2. What is the tuition fee at the KIMEP University?
The tuition and fees for the 2023-2024 academic year are as follows:
English Foundation course – 468 750 KZT (per level)
One 2 credits course – 224 260 KZT
One 3 credits course – 336 390 KZT
Student fee – 7 820 KZT
Annual medical checkup – 4 500 KZT
Library fee – 51 010 KZT
On average, a student takes 10 to 13 courses per year. The maximum possible number of courses to study during one academic year (including the summer semester) is 17.
3. When to make a payment?
The payment needs to be done before the start of the registration period. The defined sum should be put into the personal account of the student (ID: 2023xxxx) each semester.
The payment can be made either 1/3 of the total amount or for one semester or for an academic year. The left over money is transferred for the next semester/academic year.
Also, the payment can be done for the entire period of study (4 years). For this option, the tuition fee is fixed and should be calculated based on the prices for the 2023-2024 academic year.

You have to deposit 51 010 KZT in the student’s personal account to use the textbooks. After graduating from the KIMEP University, the deposit is subject to reimbursement. (Keep the payment receipts!)

7. How to apply for waiting list?
If the group you wish to register for is full, you may apply for a waiting list. How to do it?
1) Choose the section you want to register for.
2) The small window will appear with the text that this group is full and you agree to apply for the waiting list. Just press ‘ok’!
3) Next, you will see a small window at the left upper corner.
4) You need to select your group number and press ‘Add to the Waiting list’.
5) The final action is to press ‘Submit registration’ at the bottom of the registration table.
8. What is Add-Drop period?
The first week of the regular (Fall/Spring) semester is designated as the add-drop period.
Students can drop or add courses during this week free of charge.
9. How to withdraw from a course?
The W grade means that a student dropped a course.
The student may drop the course till the 5th week of study with refund as follows:
Week 2 – 80% Refund
Week 3 – 60% Refund
Week 4 – 40% Refund
Week 5 – 20% Refund
Week 6 – 0% Refund
Attention! No more than 10 withdrawals within the degree!!!
10. What should I do if I want to transfer between programs?
A transfer between programs is possible upon student’s own will and can be done during the registration period after the completion of one full semester. The final decision upon the transfer is made by the receiving department. If a student wants to transfer to the Bang College of Business, the Math course should be graded not less than “C” and GPA should be not less than 2.67.

11. What is Foundation?
Foundation is an intensive English language course, the level of which is determined according to the result of the KIMEP English Entrance Test (KEPT). The scale for Foundation levels is the following:
Level A – 51-79
Level B – 30-50
Level C – 0-29
Any student with 80 points and above is exempted from the Foundation.
Also, IELTS/TOEFL certificate holders may be exempted from the Foundation. For the detailed information about the certificates please refer to the Admission Office.
12. What is a credit?
Credit is a number of academic (lecture) hours per week:
1 credit – 50 minutes
2 credits – 100 minutes
3 credits – 150 minutes
13. What is GPA?
GPA is an abbreviation for “grade point average,” which is typically calculated by adding all the numbered grades a student received and dividing them by the number of credits taken by the student. The highest GPA is equal to 4.33. Students with GPA below 2.1 are identified as “at risk of academic failure”.
14. What is the Exchange Program for students?
The Exchange Program provides students with a unique opportunity to study abroad. The main criteria for students’ selection are the high level of academic performance and 30 credits earned. For more detailed information please refer to the International Office.
