Every year KIMEP University organizes meeting with prominent Alumni and University top management team with the aim to bring KIMEP and its Alumni together to create a forum to advance the mutual interests of both parties. This special year, when University is celebrating its 25th Anniversary, agenda of the meeting in the format of lunch was also special – the launch of Alumni Online Giving Campaign. 10 outstanding Alumni Donors were invited to this lunch and were informed that KIMEP is the first University in Kazakhstan that launched Online Giving Campaign in cooperation with epay system of Qazqom Bank. All donations received through this Online Donation Program will be contributed to “Rakhmet” Educational Scholarship Fund, supporting talented needy KIMEP students no matter what their age, sex, nationality, religion, year and program of study are.
Lunch with Alumni in a family-like friendly atmosphere is KIMEP’s unbroken tradition; interesting conversations and news from our Alumni accompanied the event. KIMEP always appreciates opinion, as well as recommendations of our Alumni. Everyone liked the idea of online giving, as they understand that supporting high-quality education is the best way to ensure successful and competitive country in the future and online option allows saving time and resources.
KIMEP University was represented at the lunch by Dr. Timothy Barnett, Provost and General Deputy to the President. He welcomed all attendees and thanked them for donations and support to KIMEP and its students and briefed them on KIMEP major accomplishments in regards with its 25th Anniversary. Raushan Kanayeva, Director, Corporate Development Department, informed about alumni giving campaign, KIMEP Alumni Association and presented the new 6th issue of Alumni Magazine.
Our Alumni Daulet Mustafin (G2015) and Assiya Yermukhametova (G2011) during their student life received different grants. Now they are young successful specialists and Assiya assured the attendees that it is possible to become a donor being a young specialist (Assiya initiated stipend to one needy student-girl as soon as she got employment). Daulet Mustafin noted that without scholarship from Alumni he would not have graduated from KIMEP.
The Class 1996, represented at lunch by Dr. Zhanat Syzdykov, shared at table the story how donation of 1 mln tenge transferred by his Class to Rakhmet Educational Fund was distributed as scholarships to 3 KIMEP students.
After lunch and the photo shoot our alumni received KIMEP branded presents and assured that they were happy to meet each other, as KIMEP is not only about best education, it is more about friendship, networking and cooperation. Giving back is not only about remembering your alma mater, it is more about helping young people to gain a valuable asset that can determine their lives and career paths.
