Rethinking the world in the digital age – 30 November

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

KIMEP University is pleased to announce its 4th Inter-University Student Conference. This year’s theme is Rethinking the World in the Digital Age, and we warmly welcome undergraduate and graduate students from any field and university to attend it. The conference aims to give students an opportunity to share their recent research, essays or presentations with the audience at large and initiate a discussion on their topics of interest. In addition, a poster exhibition will be ongoing throughout the conference.

Digitalization is understood as a process of integration of digital technologies into individual, organizational and societal practices. Whereas digitization focuses on conversion of data into technology, digitalization refers to an overall societal transformation that is induced by the technological progress. The societal effects are inevitable, yet in need to be better understood, explained and predicted. The conference welcomes ideas that address ongoing and emerging transformations in the following social, economic, political, media, business and science domains:

• Digitizing and innovation
• Effects and drivers of digitalization, related challenges and opportunities
• Drivers, consequences, implications and forms of globalization, flows of people, practices, cultures and information
• Policies, legislation and regulations
• Media, New Media and Society
• Competitiveness models for firms, industries, countries, and global models
• Sustainability solutions
• Trends in Arts, History and Humanities
• Translation, Linguistics and language studies
• Pedagogy
• Literacies, Skills and Experience
• Intellectual property rights, contract law, corporate and public governance, unfair competition and competition law

Proposals should be submitted in English to student.conference2018@kimep.kz before 5th November and should include the following:
• Applicant’s full name, email, university, major or department
• the title of the paper or presentation and a 200-300 word abstract (in APA format)
