Method Pro is the two month summer IT internship for university students and young professionals. During the first month interns learn project management, machine learning, microservices, web development and iOS app development. Interns solve real world problems from partner companies. Method Pro is initiative of Method Digital Education and sponsored by THe First Presidential Found. For the second year KIMEP and KIMEP BCB is the main partners in Method Pro Almaty.
Week 1 June 10 – June 16
First week of the program we had courses on project management and cybersecurity from Rick Gauthier – Regional IT manager at Amazon and Galymzhan Mussagaliev – Бusiness Аnalyst at Rahmet app. Students study and work in teams. They are divided in teams of 4-5 each week. At the end of the week 1 teams took part in the first Amazon Alexa hackathon. Teams added 24 new Amazon Alexa Skills and presented their solutions.
Week 2 June 17 – June 23
From the second week students started courses on machine learning from Dinislam Oraz – Data Science Instructor at Method Digital Education. Course will last for 3 weeks. Interns will learn to analyze and visualize data, make predictions based on the data.
Also students learned microservice architecture from Arman Nurgaziyev – CTO at Rahmet app. Participants learned to divide the program into loosely coupled and easily changeable modules.
Week 2, June 24- June 30
In the third week, participants completed web design and development course with VueJS from Alisher Toleberdyev(Team Lead at Foxout.kz and mobile developer at Homebank). Students learned how to design a website using newest JavaScript framework – VueJS At the end of the week, we had a team building and pizza party at KIMEP student center to help the interns get to know each other better.
Week 4, July 1 – July 7
We ended educational part of the program with iOS development course from Olzhas Akhmetov (CTO at MoyDev, developed apps for Air Astana and Fly Arystan) and finished a 3-week course in machine learning.
On July 6, we held a hackathon – an examination to test the learned material and the ability to work in a team. The participants gathered in teams of 4 in which they had to solve one of the 5 tasks of the hackathon in 24 hours and present the solution the next day. Demos were presented on July 7 in SmArt.Point, 23 teams out of 25 showed their solutions. As a result, one winner team was selected for each task.
Following the results of the first month, 70 people passed from the 118 participants to the second part of the program, of which 17 teams were formed to work with business cases from partner companies.
July 10-11, partner companies presented their business cases, a total of 11 tasks from 5 companies.
Week 5, July 8 – July 14
Companies presented their cases during the 6 week of the internship. Our partners this year: Alfa Bank, Technodom, BI Innovations, Qubit.
